Q: What is your student/teacher ratio?

A: Our student/teacher ratios are currently 4:1. We have no more than 8 students in any academic study group.

Q: How many students are in the school per grade?

A: This number can vary from year to year. In our new building, we are excited to be able to accept up to 40 students in the school.

Q: Is Arete Academy accredited?

A: Not yet! In the state of Minnesota, a school must be in operation for two years before it can initiate the accreditation process. We recognize the importance of accreditation and are developing the program, policies and procedures needed for accreditation. We are targeting to begin the process during the 2016-2017 school year.

Q: What is your curriculum?

A: Our curriculum has a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) focus and is relevant to Minnesota State Standards as well as the Common Core. Arete Academy provides additional support in the areas of reading and writing.

Q: Do you utilize technology?

A: Yes! Technology is an integral part of our curriculum. We have internet access throughout the school. We are utilizing different types of assistive technology on both Windows and Apple platforms. We have a secure communication system for parents, teachers and students. We incorporate other creative technology opportunities such as graphic arts, audio engineering, digital media, programming and web design.

Q: Do you offer tutoring after school? If yes, is it offered to students who do not attend Arete Academy?

A: Yes, we offer tutoring services in math and reading and tutoring is open to all students in the community.

Q: Do you offer any other services?

A: Yes, We offers language learning evaluations, consultation and report reviews to families with a child who attends Arete Academy as well as to families in the community.

Q: What is the tuition for Arete Academy?

A: The tuition for the 2017-2018 school year is $21,500. For qualifying families, financial aid is available through the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment. To apply and for a list of required documents, visit

Q: How do I know if my child meets the admission criteria to attend Arete Academy?

A: We accept students who are 1) entering 3rd-10th grade 2) average to above average learning potential and 3) have a diagnosis or educational eligibility of ADHD, an anxiety disorder and/or a learning disability such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, central auditory processing disorder, dyscalculia, etc. We are also aware that 2E students' testing results can vary greatly and exhibit unique learning profiles. The most important consideration is whether Arete Academy can meet each family and student's individual needs.

Q: How do I get an account on the Arete website so I can see my child's class projects, sign my child up for classes and evaluations, and more?

A: If you'd like to create an account on the Arete website, please send us a message via the Contact Us page, with your contact information (name, email, phone) and your child's name and Arete email address. We can then link your child's account so you can see class projects, sign up for classes and evaluations, and more!
